
Vedat Pehlivan
Vedat Pehlivan is a prominent lawyer with over 35 years of experience in the field of law. He was born in Pertek in 1966 and completed his primary, secondary, and high school education there. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1990 and began his career as a freelance lawyer registered with the Elazığ Bar Association in 1991 after completing his court internship in Istanbul.
Working primarily on legal cases from the early years of his career, Vedat Pehlivan has provided legal services to leading financial institutions such as Garanti Bank and Yapı Kredi Bank, as well as legal consultancy to numerous corporate companies and municipalities.
He served as Chairman of the Disciplinary Board of the Elazığ Bar Association between 1998 and 2002. Pehlivan also played an active role in civil society, becoming the founding president of the Pertek Foundation, established in 2000, and serving as secretary general of the Harput Foundation, established in 2003 under the leadership of the Elazığ Governor's Office, until 2007. He currently serves on the board of trustees of both foundations.
Vedat Pehlivan, who has also played an active role in efforts to preserve cultural heritage, was appointed as a legal expert member of the Diyarbakır Regional Council for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2004 and continued in this role until 2011. Between 2013 and 2020, he served as a member of the Istanbul No. 1 Renewal Area Cultural Heritage Protection Board. In 2018, he was appointed as a legal expert member of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's High Council for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and served on the council for two years.
He continues to serve as a trustee of the Permanent Values and Education Foundation (KADEM), established in Istanbul in 2011.
Vedat Pehlivan continues his professional life as a founding partner of the PEHLİVAN & GÜNER Law Firm, which he established in Istanbul in 2015. The firm offers services with a team specializing in areas such as environmental law, zoning law, cultural heritage law, commercial law, and labor law.
